Geoff Cotton 9th May 2004, 05:35 PM Give us a bit more to go on...... what industry, whats the product, whats the customer base... ???? Fatboy 10th May 2004, 09:16 AM The industry will be nuclear safety-related components. Mainly, thermowells. Therefore the requirements of ASME Section V must be met. We have a quality program in place that meets the necessary requirements but would like to explore the addition of the LP testing to our program. Thanks. The first thing that comes to mind is dye-penetrant, which I wouldn't think would be an acceptable test method for the nuclear industry. While working in the pressure vessel industry for a few years we relied on x-ray, hydrostatic and leak testing using a gas (can'y remember the name) for a leak test. Dye-penetrant testing is very simple and all of the instructions are on the side of the can. I used it extensively on "0" psi oil tanks to dectect potential leaks. Hershal 10th May 2004, 11:15 AM May I suggest getting in touch with the American Welding Society (AWS) and finding out what is required to get NDT Level I, II, or III....specifically for liquid dye.... Hershal cncmarine 10th May 2004, 12:16 PM The first thing you are going to need to do is get a hold of a level 3. If you don't know of one, then get a hold of the AWS. The level 3 will tell you what you need and what type of progar you have. You do not need to have a level 3 in house. My level 3 is a phone call away. |
