View Full Version : ASQ Quality Progress Salary Survey - Some Problems encountered

I just received an email from the ASQ for a salary survey. Oooh...apparently, I was randoming selected..uh huh...yeah...okay...anyways.....

Did the survey.

Question #21 asks where your organization's headquarters are located. Interestingly enough, South America is not an option. Personally, I don't deem it to be part of Latin America or the Carribean. My organization does have a "head office" in North America...but the absolute headquarters....the place where the Top Dog resides is in South America.

Grumbling, I selected North America, knowing full well that wasn't accurate enough....so much for selecting the response that best decribes me.

So....I complete the survey and go back to the email. Ahhh...any problems are to be directed to mrcoord @ asq.com . Sounds easy enough, doesn't it?

I type the email asking about Question #21, verify the email address and send. A few moments later....I've got mail!

Mail router telling my email wasn't sent because "Error transferring to mail.ASQ.COM; SMTP Protocol Returned a Permanent Error 550 5.1.1 User unknown".

Great!...no South America and no Mr. Coord either.

I'm a new member to the ASQ and let's just say this has me questioning their "management system" processes.

Another issue is that you have the email as .com it should be .org. We just double checked the email, and it is .org. In your post you state you have it as .com.

To answer your problem with the 'South America' it is a software issue. The current software provider that creates our surveys does not include South America as an option. This is dynamically created, and will be addressed through a trouble ticket with the provider.

:o Sorry. You are correct about the email address and that would explain my routing issue. My apologies regarding this statement. It does say .org but my brain must have translated it into .com from habit....an error on my part.

I am curious as to why the provider/programmer/program/other does not include South America on the list of options.

I just received the survey this morning, completed it, and sent it in. I, like Roxane, had to give a few "close but no cigar" answers.

When answering the actual "salary" question, I thought, how about all of us that take the survey inflate the salary 10% or so, so we can use it to convince our employers we're underpaid! :lmao: JUST KIDDING!

It is interesting that we get a quicker and more proactive response from ASQ on the Cove site than on the ASQ site. Hmmmm.

I am really glad to see participation by ASQ in this forum. I personally would like to know when a person is expressing an "official" opinion and using the ASQ name certainly gives me a nice feeling that they care enough to care about what we here at the Cove think and say. Welcome to the Cove and by all means, please continue to post.

I am as well. I would prefer a representative address issues rather than for this to be a 'Complaint Board' with no feedback.

Hello, I'll take the low road::::

Who really cares what the survey notes, we are all in the business and make as much as we can. I read a survey recently that noted that toads prefer dirt as opposed to frogs preferring water. In my limited mind you earn what you are worth to the person signing the check.

I also got the survey (seems like averyone did) I logged on and answered the questions, but when I got to the end I got bad vibes about it and some of the questions being asked. Decided the whole thing sucked and dumped it. :nope:

What were the 'bad vibes' you got?

Perhaps I was just being paranoid but I got the feeling that some of the information could be used to indentify the source if it somehow got into the wrong hands. The questions seemed legit enough; for example, Company location? But couple that with company industry and, if you are one of kind in that location, you might be identified. If identified I did not believe my employer would take the matter too lightly. Some of the info being asked such as salary, bonus, overtime is considered proprietary by many. So rather then take a chance I x-out!
