I want just to know if I can treat some kind of ERP software from the Microsoft (producer and developer of this software) as the product which is consistent with quality system requirements.

I would be very glad to get any information in this topic, becouse it is really hard to get fast reply from the "source".

I will claim a little bias up front and tell you that I wouldn't trust Microsoft to supply me with ERP software, even though they are bent on entering that market too.

Microsoft (M$ to industry insiders like my husband, who runs the computer network for our area newspaper) just hasn't shown enough skill in satisfying the need for information security.

1. Their sluggish and lukewarm response to news of newly emerging security threats (they say almost nothing for months while they "determine if it's a genuine problem") and then a clumsy response (like Service Patch 2 for XP) just doesn't prove to me that their customers are foremost in their minds.

2. The fancier the plumbing is, the more likely we are to clog up the pipes. Microsoft's focus on bringing out the Marvelous Innovation Of The Decade has historically been apparently more important than internal quality control and, again, security. The whiz-bang features in thei products have been so difficult for my husband to maintain constant functionality in, that he has replaced every possible system in his company with Linux products.

3. I mentioned security, and I'm going to say it again. Microsoft isn't capable of pulling it off, and I don't have a lot of confidence that they will because they can't seem to stop things like spyware and trojans, which cripple computers and systems very fast. For this reason I have been so dead-set against the .Net initiative, (where Microsoft wants its customers to eventually subscribe to their software and log in to use it, like AOL, and store your data for you) that my OS purchases stopped with Windows 2000. I do not want Microsoft to have any control of my data's security; they just haven't shown me they can safely handle it.

All of these things shows me that Microsoft, in spite of its frequent blurbs "Our customers say they want XYZ" they must not be listening very intently to customers because the security problem is as big as ever. I've never heard of anyone who was actually asked what they want. I see no sign of a customer relationship at all, a key component of quality systems.

Does anyone out there have a better recommendation for good ERP software?

I don't know what MicroSoft (aka MickeySoft) uses as a quality standard or system.

I run the site on FreeBSD (which is essentially what I have here on my Mac as well) and like it. Linux is OK, but I prefer BSD platforms. With the recent Open Office type packages you also have the equivalent of Word, etc. The interface is a bit rougher but it all works.

Fortunately I have managed to contact with our local unit of MicroSoft Co. (MBS) and got to know that unfortunately they don't have any certification and are not interested to get any, becouse as they thing about themselves - they are the leader who determines some kind of standards....

What can I say: nothink to add, nothink to take away...
