I have a question to post. I feel like I know the answer but I just do not know where to find the proof. Under ISO9000, if you do not have a confirmed audit date, and you acquire another facility onsite, all under the same company. Do you have to include that facility in your next audit? Can we just ask them to audit the older building and add the new building in the coming future during a surveillance audit, basically adding them to the scope?

(I'm only speaking as a customer, NOT a registrar. these are the kinds of questions that would come to my mind if I found out about this on my own.)

New facility make same product? (my product)
Different product?
Same family of products?
What does new facility have to do with final product and dealing with customers?
Do you trumpet ISO registration AND new facility in same breath? If so, that smacks of "misdirection" to many ethicists if both are not registered or included in the blanket registration.
What is the real issue of not wanting to include the new facility?
Project will or will not be up and running?
If running, why would you not want to include it?
If the new facility doesn't measure up to the Standard, are we to understand you want to "disguise" that fact?
To my knowledge, the Registrar will limit the scope of the registration if asked. What you have to ask is what will your customers think if they feel you tried to deceive them, whether you intended to or not. If everything is clear and there is a logical reason for not including a facility on the same campus, just be sure to make it clear to the customers.

My answer is NOT intended to imply there is anything to hide, only to point out the kinds of questions (unintended consequences) which may arise in customer minds and should be considered in making your decision.
