View Full Version : What is a complete system audit - ISO9001:2000

Howdy yall !!!

What is considered a complete system audit?

Here is a scenario:

First, my audit schedule simply lists the 5 elements of ISO9001:2000. I have an auditor who reviews Element 7, pertaining to Validation of processes (clause 7.5.2). We complete the audit and I check it off as complete on my schedule.

Now, I do this for the remaining 4 elements (4, 5, 6, and 8), auditing a clause within the element. Is this considered a complete system audit in the eyes of a registrar.

Or,

Is it considered complete when ALL the clauses, within ALL the elements have been audited?

Our registrar checked to make sure that all subclauses within each clause had been audited in our initial audit cycle during our certification audit.

I think.

Well, I guess we have to ramp things up a bit. Our intent is to audit all clauses, but we were going to focus on those clauses that need it the most. Now we will have to audit some areas that I don't feel need it, but, if we must, we must.....

If you feel that there are areas that don't need it, is it because of some sort of objective evidence...if so, you are halfway there. Don't spend a lot of time on areas that are not going to get you any return, but if you don't have data to support your feelings it's just another opinion. If you have the data, obviously, someone has looked into it. document it and add it to your audits.

I have another thread going regarding pre-assessments.

We recently went through a 4 day pre-assessement by our registrar. This generated 25 findings, under the QS standard. We are moving to the ISO standard, so many of those findings are not applicable.

BUT,

We are addressing those that are. So I do have evidence that we have examined those areas. We have basically audited every area of the QS element, but it was through pre-assessement. We have not accomplished this through internal audits, hence my question.

Also, I have been told that just touching on the 5 elements constitutes a full audit, but I don't feel confortable with that. My concern is due to what I need to accomplish for our registration audit.
