But it wasn't JUST the auditor - the register has added requirements into their stage 1 checklist over and above the 9001 requirements. WHat's the point in going back to the register? They don't get it, let alone the auditor. That's why the ANAB folks need to know!
If you are do not have a positive experience with the APPEAL process which every registrar should have, then go to ANAB. But make sure that your complains are based on hard facts.

What's the point of an appeal? These people get you on the hook and then send an auditor with a checkist which adds requirements? How are you supposed to discover they do this until it's too late and your in the middle of the register process? Talk about a con...

The appeal process does work in my experience. I was audited to AS9100, and the auditor found, and documented some non-conformances which were not justified for various reasons and couldn't be resolved with the Auditor at the closing meeting. I went to the CB and appealed the non-conformances. The unjustified non-conformances were removed from the audit report.

So yes, the appeal process works, at least in my experience.

Your missing the point. It's the register who is putting things in their checklist which go beyond ISO requirements. Who is going to listen if any appeal is made? Sure the auditor was incompetent (really he was), but if the register management don';t get it what chance does an appeal have?

The Registrars are required to review any and all appeals because 17021, I believe.

If I get an undeserved parking ticket I don't contact the Supreme Court first.
