Rule for ISO/TS16949 Triennial Audit of Multiple Sites (Remote Locations)

Hi

Our registrar is saying that we could not have audit beyond last year audit date because of Triennial audit. We have several sites under this Certificate. For example our last year audit was on June 5. The registrar is saying we cannot have audit this year beyond June 5.

My understanding is that the MAIN site (parent site) audit needs to be done with in a year date of last years audit date, but, for remote location it can go beyond 1 year gap since last audit.

Could someone please share their comments/experience.

Thank you

Re: Rule for ISO/TS16949 Triennial audit

In the Rules for achieving IATF recognition, third edition, document, section 5.5, there is a requirement that reads that all supporting sites must be audited PRIOR to the audit of the manufacturing site, for a STAGE 2 audit.

A re-certification audit is not the same as a stage 2 audit, and I could not find a similar requirement for the re-certification stage, but it would make sense that all support sites to be audited before the manufacturing site is audited, sine some of the findings related to the support processes could (and should be used) as input to an effective audit of the certified site.

Re: Rule for ISO/TS16949 Triennial audit

Thanks fo rthe quick response. But what about this statement on page 16 of "Automotive Certification Scheme for ISO/TS 16949:2002: Rules for achieving IATF recognition"

Statement: "The time between two certification audits shall not exceed three years (-3 months, +0 months) from the last day of the previous certification audit"

If one of our remote site was audited in August and main site was June. Should not it be till august for this year for audt to finish
