Look Across, Read Across - GM - Visteon

I know the old concepts, but am unfamiliar with GM's specific "Read Across" and "Look Across" requirements.

The concepts seem to relate to the ability to notify others in the enterprise about failures that may also affect them. (I.e. Intra-plant notices to say, production lines; Across plants but only to those who need to know).

I'm trying to get up to speed on what people expect to do and whether there are any solutions available today that address this well, or conversely, what problems people have trying to do this and what it costs them when they fail to do it well.

Any insights any of you might be able to give me would be appreciated.

"Bump"...

Any GM folks here that can give me some background of the status of GM's specific "Read Across" and "Look Across" requirements and their relationship to Drill Deep and Wide?

Re: Look Across, Read Across - GM - Visteon

Roght now GM require the Drill deep and wide, this tool is not to find out root causes, is to find out corrective action since the ssystemic point of view, Predict (planing process), Prevent (manufacturing process) and Protect ( Quality system).
