Please Help! CI (Continuous Improvement) Induction presentation

Hello All

I have been asked to put together an induction presentation for the Continuous Improvement department, which will be given to all new employees joining the company as of this month.

I was wondering if anyone out there has any thoughts on what should be included. What’s difficult is how much detail to include/exclude, I don’t want to overload people but need to get across what we are doing as a company to incorporate Lean/six sigma tools and techniques as well as the cultural/people side of CI. I will be given an hour to deliver the presentation to an audience that could vary from 1 - ?? depending on the number of new employees each month.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Re: CI Induction presentation

I understand your dilemma about the amount of detail to include - too little and they won't understand and too much will confuse them.

I would perhaps put a couple of slides together on the reasons for CI - including the requirement from ISO 9001 (for example); the business reasons for doing it i.e the benefits.

I might look for some examples of improvements that have been achieved - some big and some small - to highlight the concept and then try and put together an exercise for them to try out - should reinforce the message and is more fun than sitting listening for an hour! (not that I am suggesting your presentation will be dull!!! )

Re: CI Induction presentation

Try freequality.org - they have an extensive list of PowerPoint presentations and PDF files you can draw from. I have built out New Employee Orientation for our Quality around material available from their site and my own in-house material I developed.

Re: CI (Continuous Improvement) Induction presentation

I too handle all of the Lean training for our workforce. The introduction presentation I use for incoming employees briefly touches on most of the key terms they will probably hear during their employment. The whole presentation can probably be covered in 45 minutes. All of the more in depth training I do as needed.
