Question Equipment Error and Accuracy to be included in Uncertainty Calculations?

hi all,

if i have already include corrections to my equipment , do i need to include the error & accuracy into uncertainty calculations?

Re: Equipment Error and Accuracy to be included in Uncertainty Calculations?

Very good question.

I would include a component for accuracy or tolerance of your standard, distributed rectangularly, along with applying the correction of the standard.

This way you are allowing for a drift over time of your standard. Assuming that this drift stays within the standard's stated accuracy or tolerance limit.

I'm sure there will be more explanations that are better than mine. This is just my initial take on your question.
Thanks to Daniel Walker for your informative Post and/or Attachment!

Re: Equipment Error and Accuracy to be included in Uncertainty Calculations?

Yes.
Readings that give you a standard deviation is called Type A or random. Standard deviation is best done by Excel unless you want the specifics.

The environmental issues are called Type B, or systemic, as is the calibration uncertainty of the standard. Calibration uncertainty of the standard is typically normal and so divided by 2. Others such as temperature or others are typically rectangular and so divided by square root of 3 which is roughly 1.732.

Of course the formula then goes as normal.
