Look! QS 9000 Element 4.15 ( 4.15.6.4 Shipment Notification System)

According to the Third Edition, Suppliers shall have a computerized system for on-line transmittal of advance shipment notifications (ASN's), transmitted at the time of shipment, unless waived by the customer. Situation is: System is in place but has only been offered to one customer. Process owner does not want to create more work, or more potential for error by offering the system to all customers ( his quote ). He says that our customers are not requesting us to use the system and therefore does not want to contact them to request waivers. The way I see it, we are required to have the waivers wether the customer requires us to use the system or not. Am I missing anything here? Is my interpretation off the mark? Thanks, Jim

If you are tier one supplier to the big three then I think you need a waiver.

If not then you dont.

I agree with Martin - We don't OFFER the service. It is there if a customer asks. The waiver only applies if you don't have a system.
