Default Re: Difficulties in performing MSA on Rockwell Hardness Tester

I will try to help, but first you need to be more forthcoming in your situation.

  1. For what purpose are you using the hardness tester (i.e., inspection or process control)?
  2. What software package do you use if any?

thanks for your concern sir
your 1st query-we are using this hardness tester for inspection purpose only.
your 2nd query-i didnt understand, software package of what you are reffering to
if you are reffering to msa software, then for that we arent using any minitab software,we are using ford sheets for that.

Regarding your response #1 You can use the hardness reference standards instead of parts. This will provide the homogeneity needed and part variation is irrelevant. Use %Tolerance as the indicator of acceptability. Ignore % Study Variation and ndc. They are only applicable to use of the gage for statistical studies and process control.

Regarding #2: The OEM worksheets are not made for nested studies. I will try to find something for you using Excel.

I will not have time to create an Excel application for a Nested MSA, but here is a link to worked out example of a nested ANOVA. The file attached to my blog entry contains a crossed ANOVA that you can modify using the example.
