Question Quality and Reference - Recommending a product or service or company or brand

When did you last time recommend or warned someone else about a product/service/company/brand, and what was it?

Like:
Passive
1. You were asked and you recommend...?
2. You were asked and you warn...?

Active
3. You were not asked, but on you own initiative active recommend ?
4. You were not asked, but on you own initiative active warn ?

A. Who: Was it to a very close friend, and /or a colleague, family/relatives, a group, on a web-blog etc. (that might include a "how", face-to-face, phone, mail)!?

B. What: Was it a specific product/need, that is no matter what brand, or a specific brand in relation to a better brand, the company and all its brands/products/services?

C. Why: What was the reason? Because the the price was low/high, bad service, competitor is better/worse, o the company do (/not) think about the environment, etc.?

Also the other way around, when was you recommended/warned by someone else? Come on plz

I actively recommended to family members a chemical to be added to the fuel tank to improve fuel economy and clean the fuel system.

Is this the type of feedback you are looking for?

Re: Quality and Reference - Recommending a product or service or company or brand

DrM2u: Yes please, Thanks
Please also tell me, what made you recommend it, what did the difference?

This is a combi-thread a little for the fun of it, to see what people from around the world recoommend or not, but of course behind it, some serious aspects (I might give some more comments as more people post, perheps there will be a tendency, perhaps not at all)...
BTW: its not suppose to be a commercial thread, but for me its okay to include the brand.... (don't go to much into a discussion of the brands, no matter how much you disagree).

Some of my examples:

I have an old macbook, if people ask me whether mac is a good idea, my answer is in relation to hardware NOOO, dont ever buy it, simply because I seen it slowly fall a part + varing service! For all my friends I active warn them about it, and even at a group meeting and in a blog.

I was last recommended by a friend to buy Asus mainboard, on request, and I found him as an import source, as he had been tested a lot of different boards.

Re: Quality and Reference - Recommending a product or service or company or brand

Active:
I've recently recommended a local guitar/music shop to everyone I know who plays a musical instrument. I live in a town called Horwich but work in another town 7 miles away called Wigan. I love music and there is a guitar shop just up the road from me. I wanted an effects pedal a few months ago and strolled in. They didn't stock it but ordered one for me and price-matched the best internet price. So I went in again for a more expensive pedal a couple of months ago. The manufacturers (Line 6) have recently put their prices up but there were some internet stockists selling old stock at the previous prices. The guy in the music shop told me this, said they couldn't price-match as they'd have to order in at new prices and actually advised me of the site selling the units on the cheap.

Why does this shop stand out for me? Phenomenal customer service primarily. The owner (and his wife) are lovely people - no sales pressure at all from them. They welcome you into the shop with a (genuine) smile and encourage you to spend time there and try out the gear at will. They will advise if I want them to. They will try their very best to price-match the best internet prices. They will advise where else to go if they are not able to offer the best price. They are knowledgable without being arrogant. Basically, shopping there is a pleasant experience. That makes a huge difference to me and is the reason why I have recently bought a new guitar from them and will go there for all my future needs.

The music shops nearer to my home leave me cold. I feel like it's one big pressurised sales pitch when I visit these. Same with internet shopping - there's no personal touch there. These guys are building up a very positive reputation in these parts and I'll add to that by advising everyone I know to go there. A fairly simple approach to business on their part but one which certainly seems to be paying off.

Regards,

Mick

Re: Quality and Reference - Recommending a product or service or company or brand

Thanks Migre,

So I'll guess you recommend the service in that store, and I was thinking hmm, how does it affect your experience of the specific product you buy! I mean you have a nice experience in the store, but as you get home and use the product, does the service change anything, about your (quality)experience with the products, e.g. does a better explanation from the store, means that you will get full value/experience from the start with this product, that might affect whether you recommend the product or not!?
