Please Help! Nadcap AC7120 (Audit Criteria for Circuit Card Assemblies) - Acceptance Criteria

Hi All,

I work for an electronics contract manufacturer, at present striving towards certification to nadcap.

Clause 4.3 of AC7120 specifies: -

"Is there a procedure that defines the acceptance criteria which is in accordance with class 3 J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610?"

Does this mean I have to compile a procedure that pretty much regurgitates the contents of these standards, or can I just reference that we work to these from an associated document?

Thank you in advance.

The acceptance criteria should be specified within the design data.....yours or your customer's. You then flow that down to manufacturing via the control plan, work instructions, etc. as applicable and then train the assemblers to be able to comply with the standards. I see no reason to transfer content from those standards to your own documentation. We don't do it in our operation and we work to both of those standards although we don't maintain a NADCAP cert.

Thanks BadgerMan, that is what I would expect, but I need to know if it is adequate for Nadcap certification.

No, your procedure needs only to quote these standards and commit to follow them
In addition your inspectors need to be certified to one of these standards
