Re: How to start Lean in organization
Welcome to the Cove, nitinkumar.
Towards the upper right of this screen, there is the "Search" function. We have had many discussions regarding the start of lean programs within organizations and you may find it helpful to read those threads.
It may also be worthwhile for your organization to consider bringing in someone who understands the concepts and can help transfer the knowledge to you and your existing team. Reading about it is one thing...truly understanding it is something else.

Re: How to start Lean in organization
Good day nitinkumar,
This is a big subject that cannot, in my view be adequately covered in a discussion thread. I have a book titled Creating a Lean Culture that I want to refer to you. There is a second edition too, which I don't have. An MIT web page about Topics in Sustaining Lean Culture and Enterpris has a number of presentations that you can view, including one about creating a lean culture by the book's author. Also, Jon Miller has written 10 Mistakes in Starting Lean Enterprise Transformations that I also want to refer you to. This should get you started.
I am not affiliated with MIT or the Kaizen Institute.

Re: How to start Lean in organization
Hi Nitinkumar,
Implementing a Lean-Six Sigma process is a BIG endeavor. Is there a Project Team reporting to top management in charge of this project? This will be tough to do unless you have a solid core support team, and at least one person who is devoted to this full time.
Once the core team is trained, they should take that learning and start teaching others. I don't know the size of your company, but if it is multiple locations, there should be a Champion or Sponsor for this program at each location. They can take on the training and project implementation in that location
Understanding the Lean-Six Sigma principles is a given, however, having the right implementation structure is equally important.

Re: How to start Lean in organization
As an alternate, you could purchase a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Primer from the Quality Council of Indiana (or QCI), if only to familiarize yourself with the BOK and methodologies that synergize Lean and Six Sigma in an organization. It is a pretty good primer for starters. However, reading it is one thing, and applying it is something else entirely...
Which is why I strongly agree with RCBeyette and RosieA when they recommend you get a qualified person (preferably certified) to champion or sponsor this huge undertaking. Without the necessary structure and discipline in place to enable a cultural foothold within LSS, the chances of its implementation (and its success) will most certainly fizzle away. And Jennifer has some good links in her post to boot.
Disclaimer: I am not affiliated in any way with QCI.

Re: How to start Lean and Six Sigma in an Organization
Actually there are a lot of good threads here on "Lean" (not to mention six sigma). Here are a few: Discussions Threads on Lean
Reading through some of the existing discussion threads may help you to understand what others have asked and experienced in implementing Lean in an organization.
