Another Politician who did not serve in the Miltary bashes a Military Hero
Rep. Joe Walsh: Double-amputee Tammy Duckworth not a ‘true’ military hero
Politicians never cease to amaze me in how hollow 99% of them are. So many "arm chair generals" so few of which served in the military themselves.

I'm a Conservative and vote mostly Republican and as far as I'm concerned this guy is a Grade "A" A$$HOLE!
Tammy Duckworth is nothing but a hero, she knowing went into a hot LZ to do her duty and it cost her dearly.
I'd take Tammy Duckworth any day over a lodmouth gassbag regardless of his politics
Here's a photo of Lt Col Duckworth

Re: Another Politician who did not serve in the Miltary bashes a Military Hero
I have the honor of knowing this lady during the 2002/2003 period when she was the coordinator for SE Asia at Rotary International's Headquarters at Evanston. The fact that she gave up a job she likes to volunteer for front line service speaks volumes of her character.

Re: Another Politician who did not serve in the Miltary bashes a Military Hero
Speaking as someone who serves in the reserves and has the honour to be in a position of command, the honorable senator needs to Shut the F. up.
Heroism is doing something which will endanger yourself because it is the right thing to do, the fact that Lt Col Duckworth lost limbs doing so means that this is likely to limit her conversation, because people will ask about it. She is also the right kind of person to run for public office - doing the right thing for the right reason......

Re: Another Politician who did not serve in the Miltary bashes a Military Hero
I can vouch that even though I left the U.S. Navy with all my limbs still attached and no head injury or PTSD, those years are still the most significant and formative of my life. Much still gets compared to them, and although it's been many years since my discharge I do still think of it and talk about it. It doesn't surprise me that she does as well, and it doesn't surprise me that it drives her opponent boinko because he has nothing to match the experience. It's more relevant than he claims. There will be a set of people who nod and say "Yup-yup-yup" at his protests but there will also be many people looking sideways at his complaining.

- excellant stuff.
How many politicians (in any country, yours and mine included) show 'heroism ' against corruption, intimidation by banks and in the case of the U.S, the power of the 17,000 donors who paid 97% of the 2008 presidential campaign costs.

Re: Another Politician who did not serve in the Miltary bashes a Military Hero
As it happens, a local politician to me has served alongside me for a number of years in the Reserve Forces. He has relativly recently been re-elected, having sacked nearly 2/3 of his staff for 'actions which are likely to bring him or his party into disrepute' and returned over £4000 of donations as he was unable to support thew organisations making a donation for ethical reasons. I have not mentioned his name as he has done this without a press release and does not wish to profit politically from it.
While this is commendable, what worries me is the fact that to get anywhere in politics you need funding from this sort of organisation who then expect your support. The whole system needs examining to remove this sort of infuence. I actually think the British system is better than the American in this regard, but not much....
