Please Help! Auditing the Internal Auditing Process - Audit Nonconformance

Hello,

We recently had an ISO recertification audit to EN ISO13458:2003. At the end of the audit we were issued an minor observation for not auditing our internal audit program. In reviewing our procedures, we really don't have anything defined for this, apart from stating that the internal audit program will be monitored and assessed as part of the management review process. - Should we actually perform a formal audit of the auditing process or should a general review of the program during the Management Review Meetings be sufficient?

Thanks,
Jim

Re: Auditing the internal auditing process?

You must audit the internal audit process and NO, just management review is not sufficient. No if's, and's or but's

Re: Auditing the internal auditing process?

I agree with Randy. Your whole system need to be audited to determine conformity and effectiveness. The audit process is no different. Just be careful that the auditor(s) who audit the internal audit process don't audit their own work.

Re: Auditing the internal auditing process?

Hello,

We had a similar issue in our NB audit and we had to review Internal Audits Procedure, in order tu establish a review of Internal Audits Process by (for example) Quality Director, reviewing Non Conformities issued, if the Plan has been follow, if Auditors are according your requirements.......

Issuing of this improvement is usual but is a little rare....
Regards
Juan
