Re: Using a Wiki to implement a Quality Management System (QMS)
Dear Pancho,
Thanks for all the information in this topic. It stimulated me to build a new QMS for one of my medical device clients in a wiki. Last month they received their ISO13485 certificate with compliments for the 'lean implementation'. The wiki helped us in keeping the QMS simple, structured and consistent.
Thanks again!

Re: Using a Wiki to implement a Quality Management System (QMS)
Is wiki applicable when you have to follow QSR as well along with ISO 9001/13485/14001? Any one who has experience in it - planning, implementation and additional information would be helpful.

This isn't a problem with the system I'm using (tiki wiki). We are using a Tiki feature called "flagged revisions" to control document approvals. All edits must be approved by the process owner, and only approved documents are live on the site. If multiple edits happen before an approval, they are grouped into one edited document for approval. Each wiki engine will have a differernt way of conflict handling, but they should all have it covered one way or another.

"Should". Of course, but we both realize that one needs to define which wiki is being used - as you have done.

Re: Using a Wiki to implement a Quality Management System (QMS)
Hello all,
My small company is wanting to write a QMS and QAM wiki using ProjectForum.
I have tried to install a Geometrica-like skeleton of functionality, but have not been able to get past square one. I have some experience in web development, but that was 10 years ago when I did my own company's web site cvancura dot com. You may also contact me with information at that site.
The wiki I have started is at: whts.teamwikis dot com /admin/directory.html.
( It is the private wiki on my own system that I have used as a test bed for the implementation of the Geometrica work, and it is not worth showing in my opinion . I cannot share it anyway, becasue I do not have a static IP address.)
I am interested in finding someone with this experience who would be willing to help me get the functionality installed with pages that demonstrate similar functionality.
I am interested in starting with a ProjectForum hosted site implementation. The collaboration would be with myself primarily, and also the consultants (5-8 professional QMS and QAM and accreditation consultants) to develop the wiki implementation with a professional look and functionality, while they work on the QMS and QAM.
Support from you would be to get the skeleton set-up, and to work with the team in enabling styling and structural features that would enhance this work.
This work is expected to serve as a beta project for many other companies seeking ISO accreditation. As such, there may be a future in this for additional consultation.
Thank you, Curtis

What is the "square one" where you are stuck? There is no need to develop a website to use Projectforum. Custom themes can be easily set-up from the admin panel. The skeleton of Geometrica's system is described here: Sample QMS wiki organization.

Someone earlier in this thread pointed out that there is an opportunity here for someone that knows quality and wikis to make a business out of them. I agree. If I wasn't so happy at my day job, I'd probably take it on myself.

Seems like that consultant you need is the one you want to be. Good luck with your venture. Do let us know how it works out.

Re: Using a Wiki to implement a Quality Management System (QMS)
Curtis,
If you're having trouble setting up the wiki, you may want to take a look at an integrated solution that uses the industry standard MediaWiki. Look at the R&D Software Suite here
http://projectlight.ca/Ordering.htm
The suite is a wiki that integrates with a project management tool, source code repository that is designed for ISO 9001 and 13485 compliance.
Disclaimer: I have worked with this company, but have no further interest or benefit from them. Just passing on a useful tool.

OK, Pancho, thanks for the support and encouragement (I like my day job, too!)
I have made some progress past square one, and after poking around on the 'helps', and, I believe clicking dangerously on links, created a problem for myself I don't know how to back out of... I now have javascript showing up alll over my screen, and my visitors to my forum see it, too. (whts dot teamwikis dot com). Before logging on, you can see after the group link: (.../1/) and (info.html?courseid=1).
Using any built-in themes, this goes away, and any newly created custom theme has the javascript issue. (I say it is a javascript issue becasue on other pages after the ? imge it will say: (javascript :alert('....).
I would insert a screenshot, but I cannot see how you are doing it.
Please help me understand how to get this off my ProjectForum hosted wiki... Thanks, Curtis
