Other than my retirement and profit sharing, which have taken a beating along with almost everyone else's, much of my "nest egg" is in old firearms. Unconventional? Sure. But, they rarely depreciate in value, unless they are not taken care of.
As far as the comparison between politicians and business people, I can only say this - I trust no politician. Most businessmen I know, I trust, but the bad ones tend to be really, really bad.

Collectables such as firearms are't unconventional. Heck, PBSs Antiques Road Show is all about collectables. The guy across the street from me bought a house the local school district owned and rented which has 2 large barns. This fellow bought the property at auction. He collects cars. The house is a modest place - nothing like the one's they're building around us. But it's nice and he has a heck of a lot of room for his cars in those barns.
Sounds like you have a good investment, and surely it's more fun that watching a 401 or such.

Marc,
Just noticed that after posting a reply the "View Posts Since Last Visit" option is no longer there

Rosie,
There are 5 small buttons near the top (Right arrows). Try the second one from left.

Thanks, Atul...I clicked on one of these arrows a few minutes ago and it marked everything as read, so, oh well...it'll work better next time! I appreciate the quick response!

Thanks
Hello All,
Just wanted to say Thanks for the Cove, it has been a great help to me during the transition.
I am hoping more people will post replys to the AS9100 thread, it seems to be very slow going.
Thanks again, glad to be here!
