Document Relationship Matrix - Keeping Track of References to Related Documents

I'm trying to create a matrix in excel that tracks all documents referenced within each document, but it's getting very complicated and will be hard to maintain. Does anyone have any advice on how I can keep track of references to related documents?:confused:

That could indeed be very complicated. Such matrix would have a number of cells equal to the square of the number of documents that you have, but most of the cells would be empty.

Why do you need such matrix?

What software do you currently use to compose and control your documents?
