Hi all,
I need to know the exact differnces between the these 3 terms: Efficiency, Productivity, Performance.

Is it that these terms differ depending on context?
Are these terms different during calculations and in their actual definitions?

Pls can anyone explain with some example.

Thank You

Accoding to me .i might be wrong
Efficency :- It is the percentage of what maximum can be made in a particular time slot to what was acheived in at duration.machine speed and use will be most significant.
Productivity :- It will be maximum output with the minimum input. Here level of waste will be significant.
Performance:- It will be product of Efficiency ,utilisation and productivity

Hi prasanna,

In my opinion productivity, performance and efficiency seem to give similar information about the organisation.
As u know
Efficiency = Output/ input
Productivity = Efficiency of production = Output (Sales) / Input resources (4 M's)
Performance
We can say that it indicates whether a process is going in the right direction.
Performance Indicators according TPM are PQCDSM

Efficiency = Consider yourself playing football. If u are able to receive all balls passed by ur team mate and divert it some body then, it is called effiency.
Doing things right.

Another word is Effectiveness.

Effectiveness = In the same game if ur able score a goal on each pass, then ur effective.
Often Planned Vs Achieved (In terms of time and cost)
Doing right things.

Performance is what you achieved against what you are supposed to achieve.
Productivity is achieving the performance with the stipulated resources without adding much of it.
Efficiency is the ratio.

hope this clears you.

Hi !

I've prepared for you a graphical description of OEE & Utilization.

Also, the description of the terms:

clip_image001.jpg
- Placed Components = # of placed components (in million components) on SMD in a month

- Staffed time = Real working time (in hours) on SMD in a month

- OEEm - Overall Equipment Effectiveness = Placed Components on the considered Stuffed Time

- Utilization = Staffed time / Time Target
