Dear all,
I have a question about the SQE's responsibility in the new project industrialization
The new project industrilization in my company is that R&D finished the sample drawing and our factory will RFQ, purchase the sample ( we call EP-Engineering pilot), assemlby the samples, change the drawing, finalize the drawing and then do a small batch ( we call MP- Manufacturing Pilot)
What is the responsiblity for the SQE in these phases? how to implement PPAP in these phase? Does anyone have the experience and what's the SQE's responsiblity and process in automobile industry while developing a new car?
Your ideas are really welcomed.
Kind regards,
Andy

Re: SQE's responsibility in new project

Good day Andy,

In my experience Supplier Quality Engineers deal with received goods from suppliers, not internally manufactured goods. Are you referring to the process as the SQE would verify in a supplier? In that case the SQE does not implement a PPAP but does provide information to the design team who creates the PPAP.

thanks for your reply, our product is cutting machine, R&D desin the cutting machine, we buy the parts from our suppliers, the mentioned process is not to verify a supplier, this process is that we have already choosed a supplier after quotation, we purchase the sample (10-20PCS, EP Phase) and a small batch(150-300PCS, MP phase) to verify the design and supplier's capability, main purpose is to verify R&D's design, what's is SQE's responsibility in sample and samll batch phase? how to implement the PPAP?
Your further reply is appreciated.
Thanks a lot.

In a very general sense, in product development an SQE's role is often to act as a bridge between design engineers and suppliers in making sure that (a) the requirements are properly and completely specified and (b) the supplier understands the requirements and is capable of meeting them. PPAP is the supplier's provision of evidence that the requirements are understood and the supplier is ready for production.

Hi,

during sample submission supplier has to send you the PPAP + sample, SQE will review their PPAP if PPAP is good and Sample will be inspected by IQC or sample inspection owner.

Hopefully, this is clear and help you something.
