TS 16949 Clause 8.2.3.1 M/M of Manufacturing Processes Clarification

Hi all
May someone describe me about the intent of the below requirement which is a part of clause 8.2.3.1?
The results of process studies shall be documented with specifications, where applicable, for means of production, measurement and test, and maintenance instructions.

What is the meaning of specifications (where applicable) for means of production, measurement and test, and maintenance instructions?

Does the term where applicable apply to the whole requirement or a part of it? If so, which part?

Hi,

The intent of the clause 8.2.3.1 is to verify the process capability of all new manufacturing processes and also to provide additional inputs for process controls.

"The results of process studies shall be documented with specifications, where applicable, for means of production, measurement and test, and maintenance instructions" - to understand this in a better way please read clause 7.1.2 - Acceptance and criteria and clause 7.5.1.1 - control plan and you will realize that the statement means that the process study results should give input to control plan and also ensure adherence to 7.1.2.

"Where applicable" - applies only to the usage of process study results for production, measurement and test controls and maintenance instructions - where applicable

What is the reference for specifications in this requirement?
Is that enough to write only machine/gage code as the specifications of production/measurement means? Or, does other information need to explain the specifications of production/measurement means?

I agree with amit ..... process capability for new manufacturing process to be done and it should be documented ....... moreover each process capability to be calculated against specification. "wherever applicable" means that , calculate capability only if specification is available.
