I Say... The definition of the word Invalid as in "Password Invalid"

I think the programmers are being politically incorrect. Each time I try to log into a program it says "Password Invalid!".

Re: The definition of the word Invalid

Perhaps they are shooting for the generalization and making a broad assumption.
Paswords of "password", "pass", and "123456" still top the lists last time I checked.

I was on the phone this morning with a customer service rep from a major retailer who was complaining to me about how long it took to boot up thier cash register
...and continued on to tell me what the store's financial system password was...I wish I was surprised.

I think I would consider that person a "Password Invalid"...and the password was not one of the above, but pretty close.

Re: The definition of the word Invalid

On several of the other forums I frequent I use "Invalid User Name" as my user name. It confuses the heck out of a lot of people.

Actually they are using the older English version of the latin to mean not correct in a legal sense....

It's used as an adjective, not a noun. In the link, it clearly defines it as "not valid".

I think mguilbert's inclusion of the smiley is indicative of his seeing humor in the construction, or irony.

But I went to auditor school - my sense of humour was surgically removed as per the requirements...of...

Re: The definition of the word Invalid as in "Password Invalid"

I'm going to make my next password "invalid" that way, when I forget it, the computer will tell me, "Your password is Invalid"
