Hello All:

When do ISO 17025:1999 accreditations expire? When are ISO 17025:2005 accreditations required in place of an ISO 17025:1999 accreditations?

Thank you,

Dirk

The International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) has set a transition period of two years from date of publication of the new edition - 12 May 2005 - for accredited laboratories to comply with the standard's requirements.

17025 accreditation

Each accreditation has its own expiration date, based on when the organization was last assessed. The 1999 accreditations should all be expired in the next year or two, as they normally would - ours expires in March 2007. The next time you are assessed to 17025, it will be to the 2005 version of the standard.

Accreditation assessments are currently conducted to the 2005 revision. ILAC/APLAC has set a drop-dead date of June 2007 for accreditations to be under the 2005 revision.

We just had our audit a few weeks ago and were given the choice of either being audited to the 1999 or 2005 version. We chose the 2005 version.

L-A-B will stop auditing to the 1999 version in October 2006.
