Re: Internal Audits of various Processes such as Support Processes
If you are conducting process based audits; the required documents and items will be covered. It is helpful to touch each process in the area of corrective action follow up. Often this will lead you to your weaknesses of the past, but also as a means of follow up for effectiveness. Along the way, you will see the gaps, if you are having trouble understanding those gaps, throw together a matrix with all the elements and each process. see if you have any areas that you have missed. We have found that in most cases the gaps are minimal and then you can target those areas for specific concerns/verification. The beauty of the process audit it is pretty much cradle to grave. In a decent size environment, with a fair amount of CA in place, its enough to capture all the information you will need.
One caution: if your auditors are not comfortable with the process audit approach then it will be more challenging than an element audit. Because applying the information appropriately is half the battle.
Look up 9100 Auditor Guidance published by IAQG - designed with aerospace auditors in mind. the auditors that I manage have learned alot from this information.....
