Calibration of Dial Thickness Gauge - What reference standard need I follow?

Anyone can help me on how to calibrate dial thickness gauge. What reference standard need I follow.

Use Gage Blocks. You will need a minimum of 3 blocks to cover the range so it shows linearity.

Here at work, we have the Mitutoyo 0-.4" that are Digimatic types (digital). They read down to 0.00005", but the accuracy is ±0.0001". The blocks we use are 0.050, 0.100, 0.200, 0.400. We also include zero as our first measurement point.

Thanks a lots for both of you on helping out on do calibration for dial thickness gauge. Anyhow, I still in searching for reference standard such JIS, BS or etc or do i need develop new method?

No reference standards that I know of except for ANSI/NCSL Z540. Mine is just from experience. The ANSI gives you some guidance for calibration in general.
