The Toxics in Packaging Clearinghouse (TPCH) was formed in 1992 to promote the Model Toxics in Packaging Legislation. This model legislation was originally drafted by the Source Reduction Council of CONEG in 1989. It was developed in an effort to reduce the amount of heavy metals in packaging and packaging components that are sold or distributed throughout the United States.

Thank you Ajit for your help! So it just say that the the PPM level must be less than 100 ppm for the said heavy metals. I presume a lab test would suffice to ensure that the pacakaging materal is conforming to that requirement?

Thanks.

I am afraid that it might not end there...(that just amounts to Quality control)

just in case if you have not already seen these other links...
here are few steps for Quality assurance ...
http://www.toxicsinpackaging.org/adobe/quality_assurance_considerations.pdf
http://www.toxicsinpackaging.org/certificates_of_compliance.html
http://www.toxicsinpackaging.org/tpch_faq.html
http://www.toxicsinpackaging.org/docs/assessing_lab_performance.pdf

we need to establish the product specific attributes that might get affected because of TPCH... there are instances where varnish, printing ink have also lead to adverse-impact on product...

hope that it helps.
