Can anybody define what is the difference between Key Product characteristics (KPC) and Critical Characteristics (CC)?

It depends on who is using the terms, but here are some considerations:

- Key product characteristics are those that are most likely to impact customer satisfaction
- Critical (product) characteristics are those that are not only likely to impact satisfaction, but perhaps also safety, environmental, etc.
- Critical characteristics could also apply to process parameters which can have a strong impact on important product characteristics

It depends on the context. For example, in the Aerospace Supply Chain, the term key characteristic is used. AS9100 B defines

Key Characteristics: The features of a material, process, or part whose variation has a significant influence on product fit, performance, service life, or manufacturability.


In the Automotive Supply Chain, TS 16949:2002 defines special characteristic as
product characteristic or manufacturing process parameter which can affect safety or compliance with regulations, fit, function, performance or subsequent processing of product.
