About IAOB
The IAOB is an International Automotive Task Force (IATF) oversight office. The IAOB is a Michigan Corporation; members include Chrysler LLC, Ford Motor Company, General Motors and the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG).

The International Automotive Oversight Bureau (IAOB) was established to:
  • Implement and manage the ISO/TS 16949 registration scheme oversight activities on behalf of the IATF.
  • Coordinate with the IATF European Oversight Offices to ensure global consistency of the ISO/TS 16949 registration scheme.
  • Support the IATF in the pursuit of global harmonization with other automotive manufacturers.
  • Develop and maintain a central IATF database of strategic information to assist in the management of the registration scheme.

About IATF Oversight Offices

IATF has created five Oversight offices located in France, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom and United States of America (see contact information below) to administer IATF registration scheme. IATF also has an administrative office in Beijing, China reporting to global Oversight. The Oversight offices were established to:

1. Conduct office assessments and witness audits of the certification body
2. Provide interpretations and guidance through the issuing of Sanctioned Interpretations (Sis) and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
3. Manage the IATF database to ensure timeliness and accuracy
4. Monitor the certification body activities
5. Qualify 3rd party certification body auditors
6. Handle the application process for new Certification Bodies
