I Say... AS9100 vs. AECMA vs. Oasis (Online Aerospace Supplier Information System)

Hello again,

I am still trying to learn more on the background of EN 9100 and/or AS 9100.

EN 9100 is equal to AS 9100 or vice versa.

I have learnt that AECMA is the umbrella organisation for the aerospace industry in Europe and that they maintain a database, available to its members only, containing information regarding the complete supplier list to all members etc.

Now I found out that there is also an OASIS database (Online Aerospace Supplier Information System) that seems to contain similar information.

Can anybody explain to me the connection between these two databases and
also if only OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED 9100 companies are allowed there.
(by "officially certified" I mean "third party audits", up to now I understood that also "second-part"-audited companies were registered in the AECMA-EASE database)

I have a lot more questions but I will try first if somebody over there knows about our "European stuff".

Big compliments for your forum - it's the best I have ever seen.

Regards from Germany (wet and cold!!!)
Angelika

The OASIS database is available to everybody @ www.sae.org/oasis .You have to register to have access to it, but it is free. In the OASIS database, they have information related to the Accreditation Bodies approved for the process, the Certification Bodies, accredited for the Scheme, all the auditors approved for the AS Scheme and, finally, the certified suppliers. The database contains information about the certified suppliers registered to the 9100, 9110 and 9120 Standards.

The 3 sectors, Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific have agreed to harmonize their processes, so you could support the stated goal of "one certificate, accepted everywhere".

Apparently the AECMA database information is NOT available online. So, I have not seen it, but in the OASIS database, a significant percentage of the entries relate to European Aerospace suppliers.

In one sense, without knowing more, it seems to me that the AECMA database is counterproductive because it undermines the Worldwide OASIS database. It might be due to the fact that the AECMA maintained database might contain the "sensitive" results of the audits, which can not be made publicly available in the OASIS database, due to legal issues.
