CQT Exam: Info needed - Boss says he'll increase my pay and promotion if I pass
My boss is wanting me to take the CQT exam. He asked me about the cost...for books, exam, overall really. He said there would be a Promotion and possibly raise if I were to pass and become certified. I really don't know anything about the CQT, could someone please enlighten me on this. Also, if I were to pass, what kind of raise/ promotion should I be expecting. I mean, what is the average for a CQT?
Thanks,
Jeremy Hill

The exam is sponsored by ASQ and their website has the answer to your questions on the exam cost and body of knowledge that you need to know. Their is plenty of information within the Cove and also in the ASQ Discussion Board on how to prepare for the exam.
I would not focus on the promotion just the raise. Getting a better title my look good or your resume but it won't do much for improving your standard of living. ASQ supposedly has done studies on how much value their is to their certifications. Their website has information on this subject. I would find out what the premium is for CQT and ask for that as the raise. It sounds like you need to do some negotiation with your boss.
On a side note, you did not comment on assistance and support from your boss. Does your boss have knowledge or experience with ASQ certifications? What is the reason for the sudden interest in the certification?

The company is mainly a fabrication company, but now are on the verge of doing a lot of production work for a specific customer, who was asking him about the Quality Department Certifications. He said I would have 100% assistance and support from the company.

Here's a link that should provide much of the information you need:
http://www.asq.org/cert/types/cqt/index.html
Make sure you check out the little blue box in the top right corner of the page with links to a lot of good information including the body of knowledge, a sample exam. etc.
