I Say... ISO 9001:2008 - Bogota - ICONTEC Forum - Modification Schedule

Yesterday Ive attended a forum here in Bogota, Colombia organized by ICONTEC (www.icontec.org.co).

There was some invited like:

* Ahmad Husseini, Secretary ISO 207
* Charlie Corrie Secretary ISO/TC176/SC2 BSI England
* Alex Ezrakhovich Member ISO/TC176 SAI Australia
* Luis Sanz Development Director AENOR, Member ISO TC176 Spain
* German Lombana, Leader Auditor, Member ISO TC176 Colombia

They were here in Bogota because this monday they will start to discuss the ammend will be done to ISO 9001, and they will review ISO 9004 too in Cartagena Beach Colombia. Is supposed this modified standards will be available by 2008. But ICONTEC found useful invited us as organizations to ask, discuss, share ideas with them. Yesterday more than 800 persons attended this forum.

Basically the changes are based in a web evaluation (TC176 web site), answered by near 1330 standard users. As result TC176 has found they need to review/modify next chapters:

1.1
4.1
4.2.3 a)
5.6.3
6.2.2
7.2.1
7.3
7.4.1
7.5.2
7.6
8.2.4
8.3
8.5.1

They said 75% of comments in that web evaluation where addressed to most of those chapters and theirselves found others chapters. But thats where they will start from.

As I unerstood no big modificatios will be done in 9001 but 9004. They think is too hard add things like efficiency inside 9001. The dont expect more requirements will be added to 9001, perhaps little requirements will be added just be become 9001 more like 14001:2004 (dont forget by 2008 will start 9001 & 14001 paralel review which end by 2012).

In 9004 will be done big modifications, perhaps a new estructure to allow Top Managmanet read it easily. Perhaps new principles (Ethic, Vision, Training, Resources, Flexibilty, Comunications, Social Aspects, etc).

PROVISIAL SCHEDULE TO THIS MODIFICATIONS:

*May 2005 Design Specification Review Draft
*May-August 2005: Poll Design Specification Reviewed
*October 2005: Approval Design Especification, Begins projec draft, transmit draft to workgroups.
*April 2006: Transmit draft inside Comitepor votation
*October 2006: Transmit DIS for votation
*July 2007: Transmit FDIS for votation
*2008: Publication

If any of you have more questions about this forum, please ask, I will review my notes and will try to answer. Anyway...Excuse me for my English. There are some specified terms I dont know yet.
