I was disappointed there was no further mention of Muggle authorities beyond the strained opening involving the British P.M. It made the whole interchange between the Ministers of Magic and the P.M. seem farcical and gratuitous without advancing the plot.

My assumption was that this was introduced to show that the Death Eaters weren't just impacting the magic world but the Muggle world as well. The PM just illustrated the magnitude of the impact. Perhaps we'll see more interaction in Book 7.

5. House elf Kreach may have the locket in his "stash"
|
My guess is that it was the thief Mundungus. Since Regulus Black was formerly a Death Eater, it makes sense that he's RAB. He probably took the locket and brought it back to the family house. I'm tempted (but too lazy) to re-read the passage where Harry spotted Mundungus, and Mundungus dropped a number of the pilfered items. Was there a locket in that stash?

It is interesting that in the UK the book is called Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I wonder why the difference in titles - what is the commercial advantage.

I've never heard of the Mud Blood Prince title version. I bought mine from Amazon here in the US and it was Half Blood.
The question that intrigues me is, what was it that convinced Dumbledore to trust Snape (who I'm positive is a good guy)?
I think the most amazing thing about this series is that adults not only read it, but also take the time to post about it on the internet. Guilty as charged.
