ASQ Section Leaders: Anyone going to the ASQ Leadership Summit in October?
Got an email invitation yesterday from HQ in WI yesterday inviting me to a "Member Value Leadership Summit" in October. RSVPs are due back tomorrow, giving me two days to consider if I will attend.
Is anyone from the forums planning to attend?

I'm not a section leader, didn't get notice, so I won't be at the summit. (Don't see anything about it in the ASQ website for October events.) Is it in Milwaukee? If any of you are coming, it's only an hour drive for me, I'd be happy to drive up and meet you for dinner and/or drinks and conversation. We'd definitely have to hook up with Quality Goddess - it's her home! Probably JSW05 as well.

ASQ Member Value Leadership Summit observations
Great News, there were big changes with ASQ leadership at this week's Member Value Leadership Summit.
Jerry Mairani, ASQ President and Paul Borawski, Exec Director provided a trusting, collaborative interchange and data collection from over 170 volunteers, mostly Section Chairs. This information will be used by the ASQ Broad of Directors, Section Affairs Council and Division Affairs Council in November for business and strategic planning for 2006 and followed up by another broad leadership meeting in May at the WQC in Milwaukee.
This meeting was a first for ASQ and we went though the Forming, Norming, Storming, Performing group phases under excellent guidance of a facilitator using "Café Conversations" http://theworldcafe.com/. While staff had a 20 page "meeting plan", they made changes along the way as a result of member feedback / complaints.
I and the vast majority felt there was a huge increase in communication & trust - both ways with staff, Office of President, and Board members.

Ummmm, I guess my impressions are a little less enthusiastic than John's. I'm still trying to figure out what I got from this meeting.
We were encouraged to think outside the box, but by virtue of pre-arranged meeting topics, we were put inside a box.
I think this was a good first step, and I believe that Jerry Mariani is a straight-forward, genuinely caring president. The huge leap in communications and trust may come later, but I didn't leave feeling that way.
