Material Food grade...how you control them? Company who blends and bottles spirits
 Hello all
I am working for a bottling company who blends and bottles spirits...i know i am lucky
What is the procedure for any of you who uses food grade material? Detergent, cleaning agent, Oil and so on...How do you control them? identify or segregate them? I specially mean for the detergent.
How do you prevent the material department from buying a non approved product?
Any help welcome
Thomas

By requiring that purchasing material and/or purchasing from a supplier not specified is not allowed without prior evaluation and approval. Usually the approved materials and suppliers are identified on a controlled document.

Thanks for the answer.
I have a second question. Besides Cleaning Agents, sanitizing, lubricants, filters what would actually need to be monitored with a certificate of conformance in the HACCP plan?

I'm not an expert on HACCP, but you need to do an analysis to determine what is critcal to your process. Then determine how you will control it. A certificate of conformance may or may not be enough of a control, it depends. This may not be the answer you are looking for but I have no idea what your process is and what would be considered critical. I don't know if anybody else in this forum can give you a better answer without more information.

I'll echo and expand on what Al said - you have to decide these issues within your HACCP plan. Depending on how critical it is, a certificate may be enough, or you may have to inspect the material or component yourself - set up a sampling plan, establish criteria and so on.
I assume if you have a HACCP plan you expect to be inspected by customers or a government agency. You have to put yourself in their shoes when you set up your plan - you have to anticipate what someone outside your company would expect to see in a plan using your processes.
