Hi prasanth,

Variable sampling plans can be used to gradually reduce the level of inspection required to verify conformance.

The objective of such plans is to allow inspection frequency to be reduced as confidence in a given process increases, or conversely to allow inspection frequency to be increased as confidence falls.

I'm not sure what you're getting at with the question 'how many are available?'. If you're asking how many types of variable sampling plans are available, then it's probably the wrong question. If you need one then you'll be best served by looking at a number of different examples and picking the best bits (for your purposes) from each. As with most document issues it's generally better to tailor make them for each organization.

I can upload a copy of the one that we use to give you an idea, if you think it'll help.

OR does your question concern variable DATA (continuous data) sample plans vs attribute DATA (pass/fail data)?

Prasanth, I suspect you would be better served by a more comprehensive information source than through singly asked questions.

NIST provides information on acceptance sampling here http://www.itl.nist.gov/div898/handb...ion2/pmc22.htm as a portion of its comprehensive informational site on Process or Product Monitoring: http://www.itl.nist.gov/div898/handb...ion2/pmc22.htm

Here is a link to NIST's site with ready information to print out: http://www.itl.nist.gov/div898/handb.../pff/index.htm

I hope this helps!
