TS 16949 Audit - Stage 1 passed!

Passed stage 1 audit yesterday with 2 critical findings and 9 OFI's.

Critical findings:

Although a process exists for continual improvement it needs defining in the QMS in accordance with 8.5.2.1

A full program of audits have not been carried out to audit all the requirements of TS 16949

OFI's:

Product design exclusion not included in scope.

Competencies were not defined for personnel involved with APQP.

Calibration process requires expansion.

Production processes on the audit schedule should be split to include moulding, plating and assembly.

No certificate available for an internal auditor.

Targets for quality objectives not clearly defined.

KPI data to be developed to show trends and targets.

APQP, PFMEA's and control plans should be developed using cross functional teams.

Record retention document does not clearly define retention periods of documents.


The next two weeks will be spent addressing the above concerns as the stage 2 audit is on 10/24/05.

May i ask, should be our Quality Manual against TS16949:2002 already been implemented? 3 months implementation before or after the Stage 1 audit?

According to the IATF Rules all items must be ready at stage 2 audit, including :

- Internal audit results over the past 12 months.
- Management review over the past 12 months.
- Performance trends - over the fpast 12 months - against objectives.

AND, of course in stage 2 you must be able to show that the whole system is working effectively. ( and some requirements talk about efficiency as well ).

Our Stage 1 and Stage 2 carried by Same Lead Auditor
Is there any rule for certifying agency, as they have to use the same Auditor Team for survillience audit also

Congratulations. We also passed our Stage 1 last week with no findings or OFI. Stage two is the week before Christmas.

They are supposed to assign auditors from the same team for the whole 3 year cetification period.
