I modified the title and cleaned up some typos to make the thread title a question. By Six Sigma, I presume you mean the concepts of using standard quality tools to increase the efficiency of an organization's operations by eliminating waste and other nonconformances.

Many of the folks who visit here in the Cove would argue that any improvement in an organization must first start with the will of the top management to want to improve. Second, the top management must be willing to embrace many (if not all) of the business management concepts contained in Quality management systems Standards such as ISO9001:2000, regardless if the company ultimately seeks formal registration to such Standard.

Finally, many would also argue that a lot depends on the expertise of the person or persons deploying any improvements regardless if they are Six Sigma, Total Quality Management, or any other buzz term of the hour.
