Please Help! Manual System - Sales Order -> Multiple Manufacturing Orders

Hi all,

I am relatively new to the company I am at (1 year), but have 8 years experience in quality and production control. I am trying to develop a system that allows us to more accurately measure our performance by product rather than by client (as we are doing now).

It has been decided that we need to develop a system where a single sales order will be split into multiple manufacturing orders (based on products listed on the sales order). Unfortunately, we do not have any type of ERP system that can do this for us.

Now for my question, has anyone developed a manual version of this in their travels? As all of my previous employers had an ERP system this is completely new ground in terms of required resources to manage this type of system (administration, collection, and reporting)

Any advice/lessons learned are welcome.

Hi somerqc,

Sorry your post went unanswered. Can you give us an update of your situation. Did you find a way to "manually" handle this? What a challenge, especially for a company your size. It's not surprising to find a manual system in place for the 10-20 person shop, but at 100 employees...that's gotta be tough.

Default Manual System

I know what I have to do, but we just don't have the manpower to maintain such a system. Basically, it is status quo. On the good side, the owner has a bee in his bonnet right now, so I may be able to get somewhere now

I can take advantage of this and move forward.

I will update as I progress

John
