Hi Piyushu!

In the Accreditation body I work for as an auditor (the world’s largest), you are not allowed to work as a consultant in a company that you are going to audit. When they ask you if you want to make an audit to a certain company, you must tell then if you have or had any contact with that company before.
In training it’s a little bit different, in order to be allowed to make an audit to an organization, you mustn’t have made any training course there in the past 2 years.

Nepal is for sure a wonderful country!

Hi Piyushu, Welcome to The Cove. The question you ask has been discussed here on a number of occasions. You may want to search the forums while waiting for answers from the experts on this often asked topic.

Personally, I would not accept Consultant/Training Services from the same organization who would be my Registrar. True, maybe the individual who provides training/consultant services one time and then auditing on behalf of the Registrar/Client the next, could keep things seperate but, IMO it places the Registrar Organization in danger of conflict of interest.

If a registration body diversifies and does both registration audits and consultant/training service, they should do one service (registration/auditing)for one client and the other service (consultant/training) for the second. Don't provide both services for the same client.

This is a complex question to answer. ISO Guide 62 par. 2.1.2.o) prohibits the registrars to engage in consulting with an organization they are certifying. So, a representative from the Registrar (nor from a RELATED BODY) can NOT consult with that organization. Training is accepted, provided that the training is not "customized" to that specific client nor it "designs" the system for the trainees. I.e., as long as the training is publicly available and contains GENERAL (not specific) guidance, it is an acceptable practice.

Where it gets really merky are those situations when registrars employ subcontract auditors (more and more common practice) and the individual might work as a consultant for a company being certified by the registrar that also employs his/her services. That same auditor/consultant can NOT be assigned by the registrar to audit that organization, for obvious reasons.
