Question Production Scheduling

Hi Folks!
QS9000 Third edition 4.15.6.2 requires production scheduling to be order driven. Is there anyone who has done it practically?

Our products require a lead time of 4 to 5 weeks for processing but customer requires these part numbers within a week hence we are forced to keep inventory for those part numbers that are fast moving.
We are taking steps to reduce our lead time by going in for improvement in processing. Can anyone suggest me a better way to handle this problem and also comply with QS9000 claues 4.15.6.2

I Say...

If your system is based on a "pull signal" and you manufacture to that signal (including maintaining inventory or safety stock), then I believe you are meeting the intent of the QS requirement.
