Hi: I'm Carolyn and I love to read, but unfortunately I don't always remeber the book titles; which makes it difficult to find the book again later on. It's good to know that I am not alone in this aspect. I look forward to conversing with everyone. Have a blessed day

Hello - newbie here!!

1. Name
As per ID

2. Job Title or explanation of what you do
QA & Technical Manager for an Oilfield equipment manufacturer. "Technical" part means all the stuff that the others can't/won't do ends up on my desk

3. Industry you're in or have been in
Started as Fitter/Turner in Aerospace/Nuclear manufacturing then last 10 years in oilfield equipment.(API thinks its rocket science!!!)

4. Company you work for and location
API licenced company in Qatar. Dual registered API Q1 / ISO 9001:2000 with 4 product specification Licences.

5. Length of time in quality function
Since birth??.....was working and partly involved in the 3rd company in the UK to cert certification to BS5750. Last ten years has been develop, implement and maintain a system from scratch in a new company

6. Something personal that sets you apart
I can (and do) apply logic to everything - great for work, but the wife hates it.

7. Your pet peeve(s) in quality
Only one??? Lots to say here!!
Having to write the management inputs / quality policies etc for the owners of the company. I write.... they sign. An exercise in scoring a tick with the auditors.... hate the lack of support / involvement by owners/directors (guys... I have really tried my best and failed with these people.... please don't blame me).
Also hated the fact that API moved towards ISO 9001 with thier last edition of Q1. Its gone from specific oilfield QMS to generic QMS IMHO. Recently sent the QM to API for review and approval for a minor change at it came back with 17 NC's!!! (must have been reviewed by one of these "three day course" experts they have there - oh forget to tell you....our QM is not written word for word from ISO 9001!!!)

8. If you could change the world of quality, what would you do?
Scrap generic QMS - all organisations are different. They should be audited on the QMS being effective for the scope of THAT system and not a case of meeting the requirement of 4.x.x.a of a ISO standard.
