Sometimes I just can't open my eyes

1. GM
2. Quality Manager
3. Manufacturing industry
4. Automotive & Industrial supplier in Scotland
5. 12 years in Quality, but 6 months in management (why I sometimes can't open my eyes)
6. Something personal that sets you apart - Luckily nothing, that's why they gave me the QM job!!
7. Top-of-the-food-chain customers who seem to think suppliers are out to deliberately supply defective parts. Oh and senior management who are deliberately out to supply defective parts (well maybe not deliberately). If everyone reported a true capability index then at least we’d all know where we are and where we want to go.
8. I’d change the fundamentals of quality standards to make them accessible to ordinary citizens instead of littering them with political come legal-open-to-interpretation depending on the whim of the auditor of the moment language.

I’ve watched the flavours come and I’ve watched the flavours go and now it seems that no one seems to know.

Yes, indeed! Very gratifying to see new folks. We hope you will become regulars and help supply lots of answers to the lost and bewildered who visit here as well as join in some of the philosophical discussions we frequently have among the regulars.

Welcome to the Cove, folks!

Wow! The geographic diversity of our Cove members never ceases to amaze me. The concept of something started by a quality consultant (Marc) stranded in a hotel room far from home as a way to "connect" with others in his field expanding to the busy and active behemoth that is the Cove is testament to both the power of an idea who time has come and the power of the internet.

I hope you folks will become busy and active members of the Cove.

Hello All!!!

My name is Gregg and I work as the Quality Coordinator for a government contractor (Just graduated 8a status). We received our ISO certificate for our HQ operations last month after 18 months of learning, designing, and implementing our QMS. It has been my full time job since the start.

We began by attending meetings held by the Maryland ISO Consortium; which i higly recommend for those that have no idea about ISO.

I wish I would have found this site back then because i'm sure it would have saved A LOT of searching on the internet for problems I ran into.

Our next steps are to implement our QMS at all our remote locations (33 across 13 states) and get them all registered as well.

Keep an eye out for my questions...and i'll do my best to give my input wherever I can.

Cheers

EDIT: oops..didn't see the questions on the first post. So i'll answer them now.

1. Gregg
2. Quality Coordinator. In charge of QMS developement and implementation company wide
3. Government Contractor. First field since I graduated college in '02
4. Tessada and Associates, Inc. (Springfield, VA)
5. 2 years
6. Only being 26 years old and have taken a company from no ISO knowledge to registration. I also had zero ISO knowledge before two years ago.
7. Employees that think ISO is just a one-time thing to pass an audit.
8. Every company would have to meet ISO requirements in order to do ANY business.
