Well, her is my intro..

1. Name
Siggi

2. Job Title or explanation of what you do
Manufacturing Technology Manager

3. Industry you're in or have been in
Last 16 years in (adhesive) tapes and nonwoven (Mfg and converting)

4. Company you work for and location
Until recently, I was with 3M Company in Germany; now I am with a German manufacturer of shaft sealing and other elastomer products

5. Length of time in quality function
In and out during the past 10 years

6. Something personal that sets you apart
I am unique (unless there is a clone out there)

7. Your pet peeve in quality
People don't think about the entire process, but their immediate action.

8. If you could change the world of quality, what would you do?
Quit calling it "Quality system" and hold people accountable for the eintire process(es) they work in.
It is a state mind and not a Q-system as an umbrella. (in particular in the area of continuous improvements and industrialization)

Just found this forum and am looking forward to share experiences and knowledge (Currently I am improving the APQP structure in my new area of responsibility..)

I’ve been posting for a month or two now, but never got round to introducing myself. Here goes...

1. Name (pseudonym)
Baldrick

2. Job Title or explanation of what you do
Quality Engineer

3. Industry you're in or have been in
Steel (16 years), Plastics (4 months)

4. Company you work for and location
Rather not say, as the opinions I express on the Cove will be my own, not those of my company. But I’m based in Newport, South Wales, UK.

5. Length of time in quality function
14 years

6. Something personal that sets you apart
I love New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, I don’t believe in Astrology (which makes me a typical Cancerian), and my favourite word is “squirrel”.

7. Your pet peeve in quality
The fact that we pay a fortune for standards and certification, yet still end up on places like the Cove having to debate what the requirements actually are. Why can’t the people who write the standards explain what they want?

8. If you could change the world of quality, what would you do?
Some sort of regulation, applicable world wide, that would result in the extermination of cowboy certification bodies.
