Please Help! Business Process Mapping training that integrates Visio 2003

Does anyone know of a good computer based or internet based training program for Business Process Mapping that integrates Visio 2003? What I have seen out there is all instructor led from ASQ, XLP and what not. I am looking for a computer/web based training solution for enterprise process mapping. I seem to be hitting extremes of extremely detailed instructor led or very basic flowcharting, looking for something in the intermediate stage for auditors.

Your request really set my mind a reeling. A training program (computer or internet based) that integrates VISIO 2003 is one thing. Are you wanting the learner to learn how to use VISIO 2003 better, or beyond some basic skills? But to establish a developmental scheme for training Business Process Mapping is another item. I have been flow charting processes and systems for a few years now, but to be able to distinguish a developmental scheme I can not think of anything off the cuff. The challenge to any mapping is identifying the scope and the level of detail you need to map and what type of map you are going to use.

I am giving this reply so that I can see how your request will be answered. That way my mind kind become unreeled.

Thanks,
Doug

Default Visio and BPM

It would be basic Visio skills to map business processes. ASQ teaches one but it is instructor led. The folks that need this training are already familiar with flow-charting and consist of auditor ranging from 7 to 20 yrs of experience. One of the few things we never really have done in our training is to have a tool for diligence prior to an audt to help understand some of the deeper process inter-relationships.

So you just want to know how to use Visio to flowchart a business process? It's not very complicated, and can probably be self-taught. I use it all the time, and I never took a class. I can generate simple flowcharts with boxes to the more complicated flows with multiple paths, off-page references and color-coding.

If you're looking for something this straightforward, private e-mail me. I might be able to assist long distance.

Default Training

I agree, it is fairly remedial, but the boss wants it. Also there are some fine details to ensure that we stick to business process model notation, the closest thing to a standard for using flowchart notation.
