Let Me Help You CMMI Mapping - The abbrivations under the CMM PA
Hello everybody, I'm very new to the software QA,but I'm interested in learning.While making this attempt I found this http://www.sei.cmu.edu/cmmi/adoption...so-mapping.pdf.
Can anyone please explain me the abbrivations under the CMM PA mean
for example- OPD,OPF.........
I do have exprience in quality but as I told not in the software.

The abbrivations refer to various Process Areas within CMMI at various maturity levels. Such as OPD is Organizational Process Definition under level 3.

See the link below for the CMMI. The appendices contain all of the definitions.

You can find the acronyms in an appendix of each of the CMMI models.

Thanx ddunn...that link is of great help.I am studying that link and comming up with doubts and questions. Questions as of now.
1) What is representations-continous and staged?
2) Can CMMI model be applied to manufacturing industries?...cause system engineering which is a discipline can be related to manufacturing industries

The representations are base on how you implement CMMI.
Continous representation is implementing aspects of all capability levels through process improvements for each process area.
Staged representation is implementing a sequential maturity levels

The representation you choose to use is dependent on your current company conditiion. If you have good processes in place and want to improve go for the continous representation. If you are starting from scratch go for the staged representation.

CMMI can be applied to manufacturing industries. CMMI like ISO is a framework for a management system. Remember don't read too much into the process areas, KEEP IT SIMPLE. Look ate each process area and ask How does this apply to my industry, What is the value added and Why would I not want to do this.
