Consulting job in ISO 14001
Being an aspirant to develop my career in the field of Environmental Management Systems and Sustainable Development, I would appreciate if I get suggestions about consultants looking for a candidate like myself in USA or Canada. I have successfully completed the 5-day lead auditors course of ISO 14001. I have about 1 year of experience in this field and about 3 years of total industrial experience. This includes my part-time work for ISO 9000 consulting company. My work with Electronic manufacturer and Chemical manufacturer along with my graduate courses including those dealing with State and Federal regulations are an asset in developing and maintaining an effective EMS. I have also conducted Internal Audits for ISO 9000 as well as ISO 14001. Your feedback will be greatly valued. Thank you.

I'd be sending resumes to as many companies as I could with good cover letters. However, as we all know - many if not most of these jobs come through networking.
It does appear that there is, at least in part, a glut of auditors - mostly ISO 9001 auditors. I'm not too sure about 14000. I know a bunch of folks who took the course but 14000 just hasn't taken off anythng like ISO 9001.
However, do read http://Elsmar.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000212.html

Don't quit your day job Dave.
I'm a RAB certified 14000 Lead Auditor and even that doesn't guarantee work to come my way. I have signed contracts as an Independent Contractor with a couple of Registrars, an agreement with an ISO consulting organization and just recently got selected to provide 14000 implementation consulting services to a major corporation here in So California but I'm still nervous about venturing out on my own.
On top of the above I have a BS in Occupational Safety, almost an MBA and multiple certification as both a safety and environmental professional, but I still worry about making the mortgage.
I recommend getting as much experience as possible from an employer, building a good solid background, start networking (like here) and wait until the time is right.
If you don't want to wait just scream ...GERONIMO, and jump in.

Feel free to give me a call sometime, I would like to speak to you about what you're looking for and if thosr goals match up with any of our clients' needs. If they do, great! If they don't match up... we'll move on to the next opportunity. Good posting... excellent idea to reach out...
