Laughing NC/SC Folks........ The Carolina's

why is it (NC or SC) called 'Cackalacky'?? As in North Cackalacky.....

I was visiting the Uwharrie National Forest last year and saw it on a bumper sticker and my buddy from Raleigh calls it that too........

So, fill us all in with the wisdom....

Andy

That's a new one on me....but I'm just a transplant They tell me I'll never gain a full "southerner" status. I'd like to know more, also. Anybody ever hear this?

I heard it growing up.....but the old folks never explained it to me.....I always just took it as our internal digs that Southerners do to each other.....but then I am a Native of FL and grew up in AL.....not a backwater state like Georgia....... But they DO have a great Football team.....Hunker Down Dawgs!

I am a native of South Cackalaky and have heard it my whole life. I've never known where it came from. I have most often heard it used in a way to not distinguish North and South Carolina, just Cackalacky. I guess in a way to bring the two states together.

I remember reading this article a couple of years back. I don't think anyone has an answer.

Surprised to know that a hot sauce company owns the rights to "Cackalacky". (Kind of ticks me off)
