Question IWA2 for schools a forgotten item? Implementation of 9001 in educational institutions

Not sure where to put the question...

I did a search for information about the IWA2 for schools, and I ordered the standard.

Apart for 2 results on the Cove, and some standards and nearly 1 school reference, there is not much about this topic.

Only a big meeting in Mexico a few years ago, where most given links on sites are not working (anymore).

Questions about this at the SEP (Mexican Secretaria de Education) are answered with a: hu ? Que ? No tengo....

Is this a forgotten part in the ISO world? or am I a lonely ranger in this field ?

Can somebody bring some light in this, for me, dark part ?. I can't believe nearly no schools are following this standard.....

Can you start by spelling out IWA2?

It's an ISO guideline document for implementation of 9000-2000 in educational institutions. It's ISO/IWA2-2003. Oddly, most of the initial Google hits are in Spanish, and the OP is posting from Mexico, so perhaps it's an issue there.

Odd indeed. There was a workshop somewhere in 2002 (I think) in Mexico, but that was 'world wide'.
On several sites there are dead links...

Even the Instituto Nacional para la Evaluacion de la Educacion, created after the workshop says Hu? and Duh ! when the question is asked about the IWA2.

I have the standard and am looking for others to have some input about implementation.

Indeed, like Jim Wynne, I only had Spanish hits, and just one school in the US.

INSI in Mexico city has one course for IWA2 for years now....without enrollments.....

Hence my question. The most recent info is a task group in 2005, so there is some movement, but where to find the information ?

When I look to the definition for IWA2:

The IWA 2:2003 document provides guidelines for the application of ISO 9001:2000 in educational organizations providing educational products or services. These guidelines do not add to, change or modify the requirements of ISO 9001:2000, and are not intended for use in contracts for compliance assessments or for certification.

then what is the value of IWA2, just 'guidelines'?.

Ok, can live with that. But why spend money at workshop, task force etc...?

Make the standard free, instead of charging 249 $ for 64 pages.....

Exclamation No driver

Another clear demonstration that, WITHOUT a driver for implementation, such as customer or regulator mandates, most standards are BLATANTLY ignored.

There are several ISO IWA documents. Because they are guidance, organizations can NOT be certified to it.

Even though most of us agree that the biggest benefit to an organization exists with intelligent IMPLEMENTATION of a management system standard, without a CERTIFICATION DRIVER, they (the standards) are SIMPLY ignored. Vis a vis ISO 9004.

E la nave va....
